Presidential candidate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and wife Iriana cast their ballots at Surapati Park ballot station in Menteng, Central Jakarta on Wednesday morning.

Jokowi, donning a brown batik shirt and accompanied by Iriana, who wore a white dress and headscarf, arrived at 10:15 a.m. and directly cast his vote in the polling station.

Jokowi and Iriana later put ink on their two fingers and posed with a victory salute for the media.

Speaking to reporters after voting, he congratulated all Indonesian citizens who had exercised their right to vote today.

"This is a very special day for Indonesia," he said. "I am very confident," he added, in English.

He later left the polling station and visited a number of volunteer basecamps, including that of Bara JP in Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

"It is from volunteers and the residents that we gain the support. So I feel it is the right thing to visit volunteer basecamps after voting," he said.
