Your letters: Stopping overseas medical treatment

T

his refers to an article titled '€œNo more overseas medical treatment, says SBY'€, (The Jakarta Post, July 14).

I am afraid it is hard for the government to stop its people from going abroad for medical treatment.

The main reason is simply because the services are more professional.

They offer very good quality service with reasonable and affordable prices.

The diagnostic is accurate and highly reliable. For some difficult cases, the doctors do not hesitate to find second or third opinions from other fellow doctors.

Take some hospitals in Singapore for example, they are truly like '€œlittle Indonesia'€.

You can hear Indonesian spoken here and there or even Javanese. Some hospitals even provide Indonesian speaking nurses and doctors to help Indonesian patients.

Even more interesting, they are just a two-hour flight away and they offer safe and excellent public transportation and very good shopping facilities.

The government must work very hard to compete with them. A comparative study is recommended.
