A collection of graduates from the University of Indonesia's School of Economics (FEUI) is currently contemplating its future after President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono leaves office.
However, these people are no ordinary graduates fearing unemployment due to their below-par academic scores.
Rather, they happen to be the country's key economic decision makers who may have to bid farewell to their respective posts as the new president is unlikely to favor their pro-market economic views, which have won them the reputation as being 'neoliberals'.

In my opinion, the analysis given is too premature to claim. It will not be easy, and it will also be risky, for the new administration to shift its ground from the current 'FEUI school of thought' to a new one.
Remember, the world is moving toward its most challenging and dynamic moment in history, and at the same time we are also facing global competition and more openness in the economy to respond to global demand. The wrong strategy would be calamitous for the country.
It is known that many of the FEUI alumni have made great contributions to the achievements in the country's past economic performance, and they are still playing their part. They are the people who have laid the foundation of the country's economic and development strategy.
It would be too risky for the new administration to build a new foundation. However, it will be up to the new president to decide, with the option of either moving forward or backward.

I think members of the FEUI still have a chance to make the Cabinet because, as we know, Faisal Basri is one of the people in the economic team for Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo-Jusuf Kalla. I strongly believe that he's the one that designed the tol laut (maritime fast route) concept, which is also known as Pendulum Nusantara which is a major concept of Jokowi's team. Moreover, Faisal is also the man who equates economic growth with equity ' as he always said in his classes that I attended ' and Jokowi referred to that concept during the presidential debates. So, I hope the FEUI will still go marching in!
