t appears that president-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo intends to waste no time as he is set to establish a temporary office to prepare his future Cabinet.
Speaking to reporters at City Hall on Wednesday, Jokowi said the temporary office would be where he, vice president-elect Jusuf Kalla and a team would map out priorities and discuss people capable of addressing them.
'We are preparing a 'transitional office' to map out priorities and people considered capable of handling them during the next two and a half months until Oct. 20 [inauguration day] so that after that we can immediately start working," he said.
He declined to give details of a possible Cabinet, but promised that it would be filled mostly by professionals. He also acknowledged that several party members of the Red-and-White Coalition that supported the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa ticket had approached his side. When pressed on the matter, Jokowi refused to comment further.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) announced on Tuesday evening the official vote tally and named Jokowi president-elect with a total vote of 70,997,833, or 53.15 percent. Meanwhile, rival candidate Prabowo garnered 62,576,444 votes, or 46.85 percent. (ebf)
