One killed, two wounded in Penjaringan fire

A man was killed and twoothers were seriously injured in a flash fire that spread through tens of homesin the densely-populated Penjaringan area in North Jakarta on Saturday

man was killed and twoothers were seriously injured in a flash fire that spread through tens of homesin the densely-populated Penjaringan area in North Jakarta on Saturday.

 Sugianto, a 31-year-old security guard, died after being trapped on his house. Eyewitnesses said that he was asleep when his house caught fire.

Two wounded victims were rushed to the Atmajaya Catholic Hospital in Pluit for burns .

Penjaringan district head Rusdiyanto said the fire might have been caused by a short circuit at a house.

Forty-five families have lost their homes.

North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Mitigation Agency head Suratman said the fire started at 1:59 a.m.. '€œThe It took more than an hour and 35 fire trucks to put out the flames,'€ he said as quoted by tempo.co.
