he West Java National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) conducted the destruction of evidence in the form of 590 kilograms of marijuana at Gasibu Square in Bandung, on Tuesday. West Java BNNP Eradication Division head Adj. Sr. Comr. Diki Sapta said the event lasted for around two-and-a-half hours.
'No one was noticed intoxicated,' said Diki by phone.
The incineration of the marijuana was carried out efficiently and in a short time to prevent intoxication. They used racks and cut the leaves into small pieces.
'Besides that, we picked Gasibu Square so smoke could be easily blown away by the wind,' said Diki, who required every officer to wear a mask and keep spectators a certain distance away from the incineration location.
West Java BNNP head Brig. Gen. Anang Prananto said West Java was the largest center for the distribution of marijuana in the country.
He added that the destroyed evidence, valued at Rp 1.4 billion (about US$119,87), was seized in a single bust, which was the biggest in the past 10 years of BNNP's working term.
