akarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo revealed on Tuesday that he has handed all strategic issues of the capital city to his deputy, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama.
As a president-elect, he said that he currently must focus on managing the transition of the government, since he is set take the office on Oct. 20.
'I have told Pak Ahok that I will not involve myself in strategic issues in Jakarta anymore,' he said, as quoted by Antara news agency.
He has only been handling some administrative duty at City Hall since Sept. 20, a month before the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) inaugurates him as the seventh president of the world's third largest democracy, along with his running mate Jusuf Kalla.
'[At City Hall] I only sign documents now,' he said, adding that he did not deliver any special message to Ahok as his successor.
He explained that the former East Belitung regent had already understood the problems of the capital city with its population of 20 million.
Jokowi said that he was waiting for a plenary session that had to be held by members of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) as he had sent his resignation letter to the members at the beginning of this month. (alz/nfo)(++++)
