he Central Java High Prosecutor's Office has detained three officials from Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) in Purwokerto on suspicions of graft in the procurement of laboratory facilities procurement at the university.
The suspects ' lecturer Bondansari, assistant rector Eko Hariyanto and assistant dean Ari Sudesa ' are currently being detained at the Kedungpane penitentiary in Semarang, Central Java.
'We have detained the three of them in Semarang to expedite the trial process, as they live in Purwokerto,' said Central Java High Prosecutor's Office intelligence assistant Yacob Hendrik in Semarang on Tuesday.
The equipment procurement cost Rp 28 billion (about US$2.4 million), but suspects were believed to have marked up the cost, triggering state losses of up to Rp 10.3 billion. The case was reported to police in 2011.
Previously, former Unsoed rector Edy Yuwono was convicted in a corruption case involving corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from PT Aneka Tambang.
The Central Java High Court sentenced Edy to four years in prison in July this year.
