News Flash: Zurich launches financial literacy campaign

J

AKARTA: PT Zurich Topas Life, a subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group, has launched a financial literacy initiative to assist children and their families to learn the basic principles of financial management they need to build bright and prosperous futures.

The financial literacy program was held in Jakarta on Sept. 15.

According to a survey released in 2013, only 21.5 percent of Indonesian people were financially educated.

In response to the survey result, Zurich conducted a financial literacy program to educate children and their families on how to manage finances at a basic level.

'€œThe program is conducted by Zurich employees periodically as part of Zurich'€™s commitment to achieve social outreach,'€ the company said in a press release.

'€œThe low level of financial literacy can bring big social risks, especially when households are unable to manage their budgets and save by utilizing financial products and services, including insurance, which is useful for future planning and for protection against unexpected incidents,'€ said Guen Soo Senn, wife of Zurich Insurance Group'€™s CEO Martin Senn.

'€œI am very delighted to see how the young people enthusiastically attend the education sessions on finance. We are very proud that Zurich can participate in helping Indonesian people enhance their financial literacy,'€ she said.
