rivately owned national carrier Sriwijaya Air will operate a new route in eastern Indonesia, Ambon-Manado via Ternate, starting from Oct.1
'The opening of this new route is a commitment from Sriwijaya Air to keep serving customers from areas across Indonesia, especially in the eastern part of this country, which has become the focus of our expansion,' Sriwijaya Air senior manager of corporate communications Agus Soedjono said as quoted by Antara news agency in a press statement in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday.
Flight number SJ 695, Sriwijaya Air's inaugural flight on the new Ambon-Ternate-Manado route, is set to depart from Pattimura airport, Ambon, on 7:35 a.m. local time on Wednesday.
'It is expected to arrive in Ternate at 8:25 a.m, followed by the Ternate-Manado leg with flight number SJ 690 which will depart at 9:00 and arrive at 8:45 a.m. local time in Manado, North Sulawesi,' said Agus.
For the return flight, Sriwijaya Air flight number SJ 691 is scheduled to depart from Manado at 9:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday and is expected to arrive in Ternate at 11:20 a.m local time. Sriwijaya Air SJ 694 will depart from Ternate at 11:50 a.m. local time and is expected to arrive in Ambon at 12:40 a.m.
Agus said the new Ambon-Ternate-Manado route would operate three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, using Boeing 737 500 aircraft with a capacity of 120 economy-class seats.
'It is possible for us to provide daily Ambon-Manado flight services if there is a good response from passengers in those areas,' he said. (ebf)(++++)
