akarta City Council speaker Prasetyo Edi Marsudi has promised to summon management teams from city-owned developer PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol and PT Sea World Indonesia, the company that manages the Sea World theme park at the Ancol complex in North Jakarta, to help solve a legal dispute over management rights between the two companies.

Prasetyo made the plan in a bid to seek the root of the dispute and to find a win-win solution for the two companies.

'€œWe will summon them [the managements of Ancol and Sea World] after [president-elect] Joko Widodo is inaugurated [by People'€™s Consultative Assembly on Oct. 20],'€ Prasetyo said on Monday as quoted by tempo.co.

He said the dispute'€™s biggest loser were the people, because they could not visit the Sea World theme park anymore as the facility was closed.

Since last week, the Sea World theme park at the Taman Impian Jaya Ancol amusement park complex has halted its commercial operations.

Pembangunan Jaya Ancol lawyer Iim Zovito Simanungkalit said that based on the contract signed in 1992, PT Sea World'€™s management period effectively expired in June 2014. However, the company refused both to halt commercial operations and to inform the public of its closure.

Iim added that Sea World claimed it would continue operations because it assumed the contract would be automatically extended until 2034. (alz)
