Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Emerson Yuntho said on Thursday that his group was not surprised that the United States-based Gallup polling company had named Indonesia the most corrupt country in Southeast Asia.
'It [the result of Gallup's research] is not odd,' he said, commenting on the Gallup report published on Oct. 15, as quoted by tempo.co.
He said that there were many reasons why the country deserved to be named the most corrupt country in the region.
Indonesia had many corrupt people, proven by the high number of people the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had nabbed, he said.
Your comments:
Indonesia needs to rule for a 10-year minimum prison sentence for corruption offences.
Give the KPK and courts tough powers to take the properties and assets of people convicted of corruption.
Indonesia's economy has hit a wall again since 2013 with the rupiah, and even exports, falling.
There are many officials plundering the state at every level.
It is truly a disgusting spectacle.

SBY must be proud of his accomplishments.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) powers are scaled back.
His party is constantly subject to corruption cases.
