police officer was allegedly stabbed by a man using a wild boar fang during Monday night's 'People's Party' festivities celebrating President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's inauguration at the National Monument (Monas) complex.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto explained that a First Brig. identified by the initials AI was stabbed by a 19-year-old man during a search for a lost motorcycle reported by one of the event's attendees.
First Brig. AI and three other police officers were searching for the attendee's lost motorcycle near the Monas complex's west gate when AI stumbled upon a man who snapped at him during his search.
'When AI asked if the man was drunk or not, he was punched in the face and subsequently stabbed by the man using the boar fang accessory,' Rikwanto said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
AI reportedly suffered wounds as a result of the attack requiring five stitches.
The perpetrator has been arrested and held at the Central Jakarta Police precinct. He will be charged under Article 351 of the Criminal Code, facing a maximum of two years and eight months imprisonment. (dyl/nfo)(++++)
