2-year-old girl was killed Sunday when she was swept away by floodwater that hit six villages in Labuhan Haji district in South Aceh regency, Aceh.
Heavy rain, which began on Saturday, engulfed residential areas and farmland in Apha, Pisang, Hulu Pisang, Ujung Batu, Manggis, Harapan and Padang Bakau villages. Flooding followed when the Labuhan Haji River burst its banks.
Based on initial information, 2-year-old Ulvia Rahmah, who lived in Apha village, died after being swept away while she was playing with her elder brother in the yard of their home.
'She fell into a ditch and was immediately carried off by the waters at around 8 p.m. local time,' said local resident Gusmawi Mustafa as quoted by Antara news agency.
He added that the girl's body had been found at the border between Apha and Pasar Lama villages, around 400 meters from her home.
