ewly inaugurated President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is likely to announce his Cabinet at Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
'We have received information from the Paspampres (Presidential Security Detail) that there will be an event at the port at 7 p.m.,' said the spokesperson for state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Pelindo II), Muti, as quoted by Antara news agency.
According to Antara's observation, a black-carpeted stage has already been set up at Terminal 3 of Tanjung Priok port. Military police personnel and several police officers were seen patrolling around Terminal 3 at 5 p.m.
Ten Paspampres officers have stationed themselves in front of the Pelindo office as well.
Furthermore, PT Pelindo II president director R.J Lino said that preparations for the announcement were made two days ago.
'A total of Rp 500 million [US$41.55 million] to Rp 700 million has been spent,' Lino said, as quoted by tempo.co.
Previously, Tanjung Priok port head Arifin Soenardjo said that the stage was intended for an event by Jokowi, but he has not received further information. He added that the Paspampres had surveyed the location on Tuesday.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, Jokowi mentioned that eight names from his original list of ministerial candidates would be removed as a result of being red-flagged by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) because they could possibly be named as graft suspects. (dyl/nfo)(+++)
