police officer was stabbed on Monday evening by a drunk 19-year-old man with a boar fang, while patrolling the presidential inauguration celebration at the National Monument (Monas) compound in Central Jakarta.
'The perpetrator suddenly started shouting insults about the police, so the officer approached him to see what was going on. Suddenly, the man stabbed the officer in the jaw with the boar fang,' Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto told reporters on Tuesday.
He added that the officer was stationed at Monas' west gate when the incident occurred.
Rikwanto explained that the officer was immediately rushed to the Tarakan Regional Hospital in Central Jakarta where he received five stitches for his injuries.
The perpetrator was immediately arrested and was still undergoing questioning at Gambir Police station, Rikwanto said.
