President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo had not delayed the announcement of his Cabinet, said his confidants on Thursday
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo had not delayed the announcement of his Cabinet, said his confidants on Thursday.
Andi Widjajanto, a Jokowi confidant who used to serve as deputy of Jokowi's transition team, said Jokowi had never actually planned to announce his Cabinet on Wednesday evening at Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta.
"Well, it [the announcement on Wednesday evening] was never planned. Jokowi only asked [the Palace] to prepare options [for venues] where he could make the announcement to the public. The team prepared it there and then it turned out he had something else to do so it was cancelled," Andi said on Thursday at the State Palace compound.
Another of Jokowi's former transition team members and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) deputy secretary general, Hasto Kristiyanto, said there was no delay because the President had 14 days after the inauguration to announce his Cabinet.
According to Hasto, Jokowi was being cautious and still digging into the track records and skills of the candidates to ensure a clean administration. (nfo)(++++)
