This is a comment on an article titled 'The dilemma facing Jakarta's incoming governor' (The Jakarta Post, Oct. 4, p.6), by Hendro Suwito.
I refer to a quote: 'Jakarta has practically been neglected for the last 30 to 35 years. Since the phenomenal governor Ali Sadikin left his post in 1970s, Jakarta has never had any vision-driven governor with the guts and resources to massively resolve its chronic problems, especially its public transportation woes.' Your comments:
Ahok doesn't hesitate to implement ideas, which is something different. Take the focus on pedestrian and bike infrastructure, which is an integrated part of the public transportation system.
These facilities are crucial because all passengers of public transport are pedestrians or bikers who need facilities to walk leisurely, comfortably and most importantly, safely. These facilities will close the missing link of the existing public transport system.
Currently, not a single car owner is insane enough to leave his car at home and take public transport to work because the current public transport system is far from comfortable and is inhumane, dangerous and humiliating. We can send a team to perform a comparative study to Singapore or the Netherlands.

Ahok is undoubtedly a smart, straightforward and honest man. Jakarta will only get better under his role as governor. Hopefully, our legislature will have the same working pace and work ethic as Ahok.
