he Indonesian BadmintonAssociation (PBSI), with support from Coca-Cola Indonesia, is looking to build40 new badminton courts across the country in a bid to reinvigorate youthinterest in the sport.
'Thanks to Coca-Cola and those involved in the support of PBSI for realizing this movement,' PBSI chairman Gita Wirjawan was quoted in a media release as saying during the campaign tagged 'Angkat Raketmu' (Swing Your Racket).
The campaign at Cilandak Town Square in South Jakarta presented eight-time All England champion Rudy Hartono and Coca-Cola Indonesia president Martin Gil.
The new badminton courts, which are spread from Sabang in Aceh to Merauke in Papua, will add to the list of 16 already established in Java during last year's campaign. 'We want the Angkat Raketmu movement to be inspiring, like [badminton] maestro Rudy Hartono, whose racket swing brought him to the top of the world,' Gita said.
