anyuwangi administration of East Java is going to hold a jazz concert, the Jazz Ijen Banyuwangi, on Saturday, as a warm-up before it holds the Banyuwangi Beach Jazz Festival on Dec. 6.

'€œBanyuwangi Beach Jazz Festival harnesses the potential of the beach. It's part of the Banyuwangi Festival. The Jazz Ijen Banyuwangi, meanwhile, is more for humanitarian purposes. The point of the event is to listen to some good music while at the same time doing good deeds," Banyuwangi Regent Anwar Abdullah Anas said as quoted by kompas.com.

He said that the administration would not charge an entrance fee but would ask for a minimum donation of Rp 5,000 (41 US cents) to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

'€œThe money will be used by PMI to provide health care to residents in the Ijen Mountain region,'€ he said, adding that the event would use the third party fund.

'€œThere isn't even a single penny from the APBD [regional budget] that is going toward the concert," he added.

Acting head of Banyuwangi'€™s Tourism and Culture Agency, Yanuar Bramuda, said that the event would showcase famous musicians, such as Fariz RM, Deddy Dhukun, and Imaniar, as well as local rising star, Suliyana.

'€œThe concert will start around 1 p.m. and end at sunset,'€ he continued.

On Nov. 15, the Bondowoso administration will also hold a Jazz concert, entitled Jazz De Ijen, which is going to be held in the Ijen Mountain region as well.(+++)
