Klungkung Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Ni Wayan Sri Yudayatni Wirawati said the boat'€™s engine stopped working around 900 kilometers from Jungut Batu Traditional Seaport on Lembongan island. When the crew tried to revive the engine, there was an explosion in the fuel tank. All passengers and crew jumped off the boat and were picked up by nearby boats.

Canadian Gabrielle Samsam, 45, and Olivier Robitaille, 40; Italian Sara Bonaccorsi, 35; and a Jungut Batu resident Komang Indah Ariesti, 28; all passengers, suffered from burns.
