According to a press statement released by the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur, a total of five people, including three Indonesian citizens, were killed in Pahang province, which lies about 200 kilometers from the Malaysian capital.
The statement identified the Indonesians as Hanipan, 50, and an engaged couple, Suwalif, 41, and Yunita, 40. The bodies of the victims were taken to a hospital in the Cameron highlands.
A team from the embassy will be sent to the flood zone to survey the assistance needed by the estimated 1,000 Indonesian citizens who work on fruit and flower plantations in Pahang, according to the statement.
The embassy said that it replaced the passports of about 200 Indonesian citizens working in the highlands last year due to damage from flooding.
