hile she is developing her portfolio as an actress in the country's entertainment business, 19-year-old budding actress Chelsea Elizabeth Islan plans to take a step closer toward her dreams: to make her own movie.
'I really want to become a young director,' she told The Jakarta Post in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Chelsea said that currently she was still working on the idea of her own Indie movie, which she hoped would appear next year.
'Actually, I want to make a movie that involves Indonesian children who are pursuing their dreams. The story is basically about their struggles to reach their dreams,' Chelsea said, adding that the most important thing was the movie would have a hint of Indonesian culture in it.
Chelsea further said that she had also received an offer to be a director for an omnibus film ' a feature film consisting of several different short films, often with a single theme and sometimes directed by different directors.
'So, there will be four directors for four different stories. I have to make my own story and direct the film myself. For the project, the genre is either thriller or horror, but I want to make it different. I am still brainstorming ideas,' she said.
She added that she wanted to become an agent of change in the Indonesian movie industry as currently she saw that many Indonesian films and soap operas were of poor quality.
'Whether it is a television series or movie, they are supposed to be a medium for people to learn ['¦] I want to make that kind of movie; I want to bring about change,' she said. (ask/nfo)(++++)
