The Defense Ministry’s Defense Facilities Agency head Air Marshal Yusuf Jauhari and KKP secretary general Comr. Gen. Rudy Heriyanto Adi Nugroho signed the LoI with Babcock managing director for business growth and AUKUS Mark Goldsack.
Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin witnessed the signing together with British Ambassador to Jakarta Dominic Jermey and the visiting Minister of State for Defense Vernon Coaker and HMS Richmond commanding officer Cdre. Richard Kemp.
The LoI rests on the three pillars of maritime defense, maritime security and food security.
“We have a free and active foreign policy to choose where we want to strengthen our defense development, including the United Kingdom,” Sjafrie told The Jakarta Post and Antara news agency after the signing.
“We already have a cooperation to build frigate. We hope the process can be faster, so we had a small discussion to overcome non-technical problems.”
