President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo inaugurated Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama as Jakarta's new governor at 2 p.m. at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
Ahok replaced Jokowi, a former Jakarta governor who was elected as the country's seventh president this year. Ahok, wearing an official white uniform and a black cap, repeated an oath stated by Jokowi, who wore a black suit and black keffiyeh.
The inauguration of the 16th governor of Jakarta was attended by several members of the Cabinet, including Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan, Coordinating Economic Minister Sofyan Djalil, Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H. Laoly and Manpower Minister Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri.
