Police urged to not issue permit for Golkar national meeting in Bali

G

olkar Party politician Yorrys Raweyai has insisted that the organizing of the party'€™s ninth national meeting (Munas) in Bali, which was scheduled to begin on Nov. 30, be cancelled. He also called for the Bali Police to not issue a permit for the organizing of the meeting.

'€œ[The Munas] should not be held this year. We will ask the government, in particular the police, to cancel and not issue a permit for the organizing of the meeting,'€ said Yorrys as quoted by kompas.com at the Golkar Party central board'€™s (DPP) headquarters in Slipi, West Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Yorrys said he voiced his rejection over the plan to organize the ninth Golkar Munas this year based on aspirations from the party'€™s rescuing team. He claimed that the team, which comprised a number of senior party members from across generations, executive officers and party advisory board members, was established following a decision to hold a national meeting this year.

Yorrys said organizing the Munas this year was not in line with party rules. As mandated at the eight Munas in Riau, the ninth Munas should be held in 2015 and this decision was reinforced with the result of a plenary meeting of the Golkar DPP at the beginning of November, which decided that the ninth Munas would be held in January 2015.

Yorrys suspected there was a certain occurrence leading to the party'€™s national leaders meeting in Yogyakarta last week deciding that the Munas would be held in November.

'€œThe Munas must be in line with the Constitution. It seems to me that the Munas organizing committee involves a number of people whose attitudes are not in line with Golkar internal principles,'€ said Yorrys. (ask/ebf)(++++)
