he secretary general of the Golkar central executive board, Idrus Marham, said he had invited all party regional executive boards to attend the ninth Golkar Party National Congress in Bali on Nov.30.
'We have sent invitation letters to representatives of all party regional executive boards to be present at the meeting on Nov.30,' he said as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Idrus said he could understand the statement of Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno, who warned the National Police not to issue a permit for the organizing of the event, for the sake of the social, political and security situation.
He stressed, however, that there was no regulation that detailed prohibitions on the organizing of a national meeting.
'What the minister has stated is just a 'warning'. We want to ensure all parties that Golkar's internal problems are the responsibility of the party, including security issues during the meeting later this month,' said Idrus, adding that arguments during the national meeting were unlikely.
