Photo exhibition reveals Palestine refugee stories

A

joint photo exhibition held as part of the commemoration of the International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People explores the long journey of Palestinian refugees and Indonesian support for Palestine'€™s sovereignty.

'€œThe exhibition will feature images from the newly digitalized archives of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East [UNRWA],'€ said the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Jakarta in a press release on Thursday.

The exhibition organized by UNIC Jakarta in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry and the Palestine Embassy will be held at the National Museum from Nov.29 to Dec.4 and at the National Library from Dec.6 to Dec.13.

The exhibition will showcase a selection of 40 photos covering various aspects of the lives and history of Palestinian refugees from 1948 to the present day. It will also showcase a set of 20 photographs, which the Foreign Ministry curated, that present salient moments of Indonesia'€™s support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to achieve an independent and sovereign country recognized by the international community.

The opening event for the exhibition will take place at the National Museum in Jakarta on Monday at 10 a.m. and will feature a musical accompaniment by the Palestine National Orchestra.

Speakers will include UNIC Jakarta director Michele Zaccheo, Palestine Ambassador to Indonesia Fariz Mehdawi, UNRWA chief of donor division in Jerusalem Virginia Villar-Arribas and Foreign Ministry representatives. (ebf)(+++)
