For chef Will Meyrick, gadgets are a big deal in supporting his life inside and outside the kitchen.
He uses them for everything ' from communicating with family, friends and colleagues and jotting down recipes and ideas to taking pictures and mingling on social media. Meyrick, who resides in Bali with his wife Wati and their three children, says that gadgets make his work easier.
Meyrick teamed up with Indonesian chef Rinrin Marinka and traveled around Jakarta with his gadgets in search of the city's best street food. The pair shared their findings in a new television show, Back to the Street: Jakarta, on the Asian Food Channel.
Besides spotting great and legendary dishes, the chefs also hit the kitchen, making their own versions of the popular bites.
So, are you a gadget freak, chef?
'It depends on what a freak means. Probably yes, though,' he says. 'I honestly don't think I'm a freak in the sense of playing around with the software, tweaking, etc. ['¦] But I cannot live without some of my gadgets, especially in doing my job and my travels. Using them is just inevitable.'
Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone
It meets my needs for both business and travel. My favorite applications on the smartphone are Scrapbook, Swiftkey and the Camera apps. I mainly use the gadget for business communication and taking notes. On average, I spend every daily waking hour with this gadget.
Samsung Tab 3
The tool is pretty handy, even for more
complicated work. The most used applications on the Tab are Evernote,
Polaris Office and Google Maps for work and travel. I spend about three
hours per day with this gadget.
MacBook Air
I need something bigger to do things when I'm not on the move, hence the MacBook. Using it mainly for work about one hour per day, I'm pretty much depending on Calendar, Dropbox and Evernote.
