The local government should have anticipated it.
It is a pity that they did not take necessary steps to do so.

While rescuing the mudslide victims this rainy season, all governors need to look over their critical landslide locations.
Are they ready for a disaster like this or not, are they willing to save the villagers by relocating them, or don't they care and will wait until it's too late.
We have seen this every rainy season, are we trying to prevent it or wait till it's too late again and again!

Landslides occur because of saturated soil disengaging from its lower rocky surface.
Deforestation and a lack of canalization for controlled water management combined with total disregard for village planning were the main causes of this event and many more to come.
The solution to this problem lies in proper village and urban planning by the government.
At the same time, awareness needs to be raised on the matter.
