Photo exhibition marks anniversary of RI-Philippines diplomatic ties

he Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and Museum Perumusan Naskah Proklamasi (Museum of the Drafting of the Proclamation), will hold a photo exhibition to commemorate 65 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The exhibition entitled '€œMabuhay! Merdeka!: Snapshots of 65 Years of Philippines-Indonesia Friendship'€ will feature photographs of important events in the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, including exchanges of visits by Indonesian and Philippines leaders, cultural exchanges and humanitarian missions.

'€œThe photo exhibition is a culmination of a series of events celebrating 65 years of friendship between the Philippines and Indonesia,'€ the Foreign Ministry said as quoted by Antara news agency in a release in Jakarta on Sunday.

The exhibition will be held at Museum Perumusan Naskah Proklamasi on Jl. Imam Bonjol No.1, Menteng, Central Jakarta from Dec.22 to Dec.31. A food festival showcasing Philippines traditional cuisine was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in September and the Borobudur Hotel in October. An investment conference aimed at exploring business opportunities and expanding partnerships between the two countries was held in November.

The Philippines and Indonesia officially established diplomatic relations on Nov.24, 1949, with the opening of a Philippines consulate in Jakarta. (ebf)(++++)
