he main road leading to the popular tourist destination of Puncak, Bogor, West Java, will be closed on Dec. 31 until Jan. 1, 2015 in the lead up to the 2015 New Year's Day celebrations in the area.
Bogor Police traffic unit head Adj. Comr. Bramastyo Priaji explained that the road closure will end at 6 a.m. on Jan. 1, and advised that residents heading to the area on New Years' Eve should take alternative routes to Puncak, such as via Jonggol and Ciawi.
He also advised residents planning to celebrate the New Year in Puncak to arrive in the area before Dec. 31.
'We have assigned 250 officers, with assistance from the Satpol PP [Public Order Agency], the BPBD [Bogor Disaster Mitigation Agency] and the military to help secure New Year's Eve celebrations in Puncak,' Bramastyo said on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
The Bogor Police's main priorities are to monitor the areas of Puncak, as it is a tourist area; Ciawi, because of its regional road access; and Cibinong, because the West Java government is situated there. (dyl/nfo)
