City employee spending increased in 2015

T

he city administration has allocated roughly Rp 19 trillion (US$1.4 million) out of its Rp 73.08 trillion budget for civil servant spending in the 2015 budget.

The spending includes salaries, allowances, pensions and insurance premiums for civil servants. In 2014, the civil servant spending reached Rp 13 trillion out of its Rp 72.8 trillion budget.

The head of people'€™s welfare and pensions at the Jakarta Employment Agency, Etty Agustijani, said the increase was mainly due to a hike in civil servants'€™ take-home pay, which took effect this month.

Starting this year, echelon officials year will enjoy a drastic increase in their take-home pay, with some enjoying a 100 percent raise. Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama has asserted that the city would also immediately demote underperforming and mediocre officials.
