obin van Persie and Radamel Falcao rediscovered their scoring touch for Manchester United in a 3-1 win over Leicester, and Daniel Sturridge made a goal-scoring return for Liverpool in a 2-0 victory against West Ham on Saturday.

Van Persie put United ahead in the 27th minute with his first goal since Dec. 26 and Falcao netted only the fourth goal of his loan spell from Monaco five minutes later.

The victory was wrapped up before half time through Wes Morgan's own goal. Marcin Wasilewski scored in the second half for Leicester, but the visitors were unable to get close to repeating the 5-3 victory in the reverse fixture in September.

United moved up to third in the standings ahead of Southampton, which plays Swansea on Sunday. The main show on Saturday was first vs. second in the late game, with Chelsea hosting Manchester City.

Liverpool dislodged West Ham from seventh place by beating the London club. Sturridge scored within 12 minutes of coming off the bench after five months out with thigh and calf injuries, building on Raheem Sterling's goal, which was also set up by Philippe Coutinho.

Tottenham provisionally went fifth ahead of north London rival Arsenal with a 3-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Harry Kane took his season's tally to 20 with a double '€” one from the penalty spot at the Hawthorns'€” after Christian Eriksen opened the scoring with a trademark free kick.

Sunderland earned only its second win at home this season thanks to a 2-0 defeat of Burnley on Saturday. Connor Wickham headed in the opener and Jermain Defoe netted his first since signing from Toronto this month.

Jonathan Walters scored a hat trick Saturday as Stoke beat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 to leave the visitors without a single point in away games this season.

Romelu Lukaku's early goal gave Everton a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, handing Alan Pardew his first loss since taking over the London club. It was Everton's first win in nine games in all competitions, and put the team three points clear of Palace in 12th place. (**)
