n earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted Maluku early on Friday morning, according to the Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency (BMKG).
The BMKG said the earthquake took place in the northeastern part of the Maluku Sea at 1:19 a.m., according to Antara news agency. Its epicenter was located at a depth of 150 kilometers under the sea, 234 km northeast of Maluku or 7.64 degrees southern latitude and 128.51 degrees eastern longitude.
The earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. No immediate reports have been made on its impact. (hhr)
