escuers have found six of the 11 residents of Tanjung Beringin village in Pasaman regency, West Sumatra, who went missing for five days in the forest. The remaining five are still being sought.
Pasaman Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Sayuti Pohan said the six victims were found by a rescue team as they were heading to a human settlement.
'They were found on Thursday at 1:13 p.m. in Mudik Pakau, Lubuk Sikaping district, in weak conditions,' Sayuti told The Jakarta Post on Friday.
They have been identified as Imul, Safaruddin, Imun, Ed, Andre and Syafrial. They were immediately rushed to the Lubuk Sikaping Hospital to get treatment.
Sayuti said one of them was found separately from the others after they crossed a large river. Five of them were able to cross the river as they could swim.
The 11 residents were reported missing on March 1 after they entered a forest near their village, which borders with dense forest in the Bukit Barisan mountain range, to look for a friend, Bujang.
Bujang said he entered the forest on Feb. 28 to check on 29 wild-goat traps he had earlier set in the forest. He got lost but managed to find his own way out.
