The families of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran visited the two Australian death-row inmates convicted on drug trafficking charges, or known as Bali Nine duo, on Nusakambangan prison island in Cilacap, Central Java, on Monday.

They arrived on the island at 7 a.m. local time via a boat provided by the Nusakambangan correctional facility office.

Among the family members was Chan'€™s mother, Helen Chan, and his brother, Michael Chan. Sukumaran'€™s mother, Raji Sukumaran, was also seen among the visitors, which included his siblings, Brintha Sukumaran and Chintu Sukumaran.

Before crossing to the island, Chan'€™s brother answered questions from journalists assembling in front of the Wijaya Pura Dock gate, the only official access to the island.

'€œWe are all missing Andrew and Myuran a lot. We want to ensure and convince them in their last days that we love them so much,'€ Chan'€™s brother told the press.

That was why, he further said, the families'€™ first visit to the island was very important and would hopefully be meaningful to both Chan and Sukumaran.

Security officers both from the Nusakambangan correctional facility office and the Australian Consulate provided tight security for their visit. (ebf)(+++)
