ransportation Minister Ignasius Jonan made an impromptu visit to the Kampung Rambutan bus terminal in East Jakarta on Monday, where he found eight buses that were not roadworthy.
'We checked 19 buses randomly. There were 10 buses that had some notes, eight of which were not allowed to depart,' he said.
The eight buses included a Parung Indah bus, an Agra Mas bus and a Warga Baru bus. They were either not equipped with the required documents or the bodies of the vehicles were damaged.
Passengers from the eight buses were redirected to other buses with the same destinations.
Transportation Agency deputy head Pargaulan Butar Butar said he had ordered the heads of bus terminals to check buses that would depart from their areas.
