AKARTA: South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany visited Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama at City Hall late Thursday to confirm whether her administration would be given a grant this year.
Disbursements for various programs in the capital city, including for grants to administrations on the city's outskirts, have been delayed due to a budget dispute.
Airin said the grant, expected to be worth Rp 70 billion (US$5.3 million), would be used to revitalize and expand Pondok Cabe bus terminal in South Tangerang.
'Pondok Cabe bus terminal is crowded with buses from the closed Lebak Bulus bus terminal. Therefore, I came here to ask the governor for certainty. Thankfully, Pak Ahok has confirmed that we received the grant and he will speed up the disbursement,' Airin said after meeting with Ahok.
Lebak Bulus bus terminal was closed down to make a way for the MRT project.
Separately, Ahok said the disbursement would be late, but gave assurances that neighboring areas would receive grants. 'All neighboring areas will receive grants except Depok, because the mayor there has declined it.'
