aruda's subsidiary budget carrier Citilink Indonesia and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Jakarta on Tuesday to synergistically expand their businesses.
In the MoU signed by the president of the low-cost carrier Albert Burhan and BRI's director Gatot Mardiwasisto, BRI agreed to provide financial services to the airline.
Speaking after the signing of the MoU, the bank's other director Mohammad Irfan said no details of the cooperation had been decided, but the bank could in the future provide loans to help finance the airline if it made purchases of fuel or new airplanes perhaps.
In addition to providing loans, the bank will provide other financial services such as establishing a cash management system for the airline.
Meanwhile, Albert said that with the MoU, BRI could also provide credit for airline passengers who want to buy tickets.
Citilink, a subsidiary of the national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, mostly offers domestic flights from Jakarta and Surabaya to 23 other cities in the country.
