Actor Gandhi Fernando decided to produce horror movie Tuyul: Part 1 after seeing the mythical creature in his dreams, kapanlagi.com reported on Thursday.
'I was in discussions with director Billy Christian about what kind of horror movie we should make. I had rejected a plot he offered and that night I found the answer,' he said.
According to urban myth, tuyul is believed to be controlled by dark magic and is usually ordered to steal.
Gandhi said the film, which is the first part of a trilogy and started screening on Thursday, would be the first to expose the urban myth because another tuyul-themed film that was released in 1987 was a comedy.
'Even if this film doesn't make it in the market, we will go on with the trilogy,' said Gandhi, who was also the lead cast member in the film.
