I refer to '€œRI, India to cooperate to evacuate citizens from Yemen'€ (The Jakarta Post, April 10).

I'€™m surprised that there are still foreigners in Yemen, in January Houthi rebels seized the presidential palace in the capital and there has been fighting with explosions occurring since then, which grew in intensity and spread across the whole of the capital, so there was plenty of warning just by listening to the gunfire and explosions from the fighting.

The Australian government already had evacuated its citizens on March 31 then left a final message warning its citizens that they could no longer be assisted by the government.
