n a bid to boost sports and tourism, the Central Jakarta Municipality is planning to hold a dragon boat competition on the West Flood Canal (KBB) in Tanah Abang this year.
The Sports and Youth Agency's Central Jakarta Office head, Edward Situmeang, said on Monday that his office had examined the river for the event.
'The canal is proper to be used for the venue as it is spacious and the water level could be adjusted,' he said, as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
He said the regular event was usually held only on the East Flood Canal, but he said the west canal was also adequate.
Edward said the program had been included in the 2015 city budget. Each district in Central Jakarta would make one dragon boat.
