AKARTA: The government has confirmed another Indonesian survivor of the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25 has been found.
The Foreign Ministry said Dewi Pancaringtyas, one of the five Indonesians still missing in Nepal, was alive.
The ministry's director for the protection of Indonesian nationals and entities abroad, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, said the ministry had received a call on Friday from Dewi's relatives to report on her condition. 'A family member called to say that Dewi was safe from harm and still in Nepal,' Iqbal said in a statement, on Friday.
The good news comes amid efforts by the Indonesian mission in Nepal to locate three missing Indonesian climbers last seen in the Langtang area on an expedition to Mount Everest.
The Indonesian disaster relief and evacuation team in Nepal, consisting of two Foreign Ministry officials, two Taruna Hiking Club members and one Air Force officer, made its way to Langtang using a Sheer Air EC 350 aircraft.
The team, led by the Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh and Nepal, Iwan Wiranataatmadja, was on the ground to monitor the location where identification documents of Alma Parahita, one of the three missing climbers, were found among the items of the 120 deceased retrieved from Langtang following the earthquake and a massive avalanche in the area.
