ndonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh and Nepal, Iwan Wiranataatmadja, said Wednesday that three Indonesian citizens visiting Nepal had yet to be contacted after a second 7.4 magnitude-earthquake hit the country on Tuesday.
'Three Indonesian nationals visiting Nepal, namely Alma Parahita, Jeroen Hehuwat and Kadek Andana, still cannot be reached,' he said as quoted by Antara news in Jakarta on Wednesday.
As of 11 a.m. local time on Tuesday, the number of Indonesian citizens in Nepal stood at 103, comprising 39 permanent residents and 64 visitors, according to official embassy data.
Iwan said the government had managed to contact 39 Indonesian citizens, and they were all healthy after the second earthquake.
Of the 64 visitors, 15 people have been confirmed as safe, while 46 others had left Nepal. The three remaining Indonesian visitors still could not be reached.
'The number of people repatriated with a Boeing 737-400 aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Air Force on May 6 reached 26, comprising 16 permanent residents, four foreign nationals who were family members of Indonesian citizens in Nepal, and six visitors,' said Iwan.
He said 61 Indonesian volunteers were still in Nepal.
The epicenter of the 7.4 Ritcher scale earthquake hitting Nepal on Tuesday was located 51 miles east of Kathmandu and 11 miles beneath the surface. Aftershocks ranging from between 5.6 and 6.3 on the Ritcher scale occurred within 30 minutes after the quake.
The epicenter was near the Everest Base Camp, which had been cleared of all visitors following avalanches triggered by an earthquake last month that killed 18 people at the site.
Last month's 7.8 magnitude earthquake killed 8,046 people and injured more than 17,800 people. (ebf)(++++)
