he police have named five officials of the East Java chapter of the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) as suspects in a corruption case involving Rp 5.6 billion (US$430,769) during the 2013 gubernatorial election.
The East Java Police detained East Java Bawaslu secretary Amru on Tuesday evening after questioning him since morning.
Earlier, the police named four suspects: East Java Bawaslu chairman Sufyanto; commissioners Sri Sugeng Pudjiatmoko and Andreas Pardede; and treasurer Gatot Sugeng Widodo.
Police investigators reportedly found documents indicating fake contracts, bills and mark-ups.
Governor Soekarwo who was elected at that time said he would respect the police investigation into the Bawaslu officials.
'Let the police probe the case thoroughly. It's the police's authority,' said Soekarwo, who is also chairman of the Democratic Party's East Java chapter.
