A legislative watchdog says the House of Representatives has performed poorly in its budgetary and supervisory functions
legislative watchdog says the House of Representatives has performed poorly in its budgetary and supervisory functions.
'The spending of the House's allocated budget is not transparent. No changes have been made in the work system, members discuss the proposed revision of the state budget only in regular hearings,' Indonesian Parliamentary Watchdog (Formappi) researcher Tommi A. Legowo said when presenting an evaluation on the House's performance during its third sitting period on Thursday.
According to Tommi, based on the Formappi research, legislators merely give an extended appreciation rather than identifying irregularities in the spending of the House's budget.
He said the House had never revealed to the public any irregularities or lack of transparency committed by legislators in spending.
'The House should strengthen the budgetary committee and use expert staff and other facilities to accomplish their main tasks,' he said.
