he Tourism Ministry has endorsed an application program to provide information on Indonesian tourism that has been designed by two Indonesian and Japanese companies to attract more Japanese tourists to visit the country.
The application program, which has been provisionally named as Indonesia Paradise, will be developed by UCS Group, an Indonesian technology and digital media company, and Shobunsha Inc., a Japanese map and travel information company.
The two companies signed the basic agreement on their alliance on Friday, witnessed by the Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.
"The two companies deal with content and digital technology. So we've worked together for this, based on the technology that we have. We want to boost the number of Japanese tourists visiting Indonesia, from fifth place of total tourists to third place," UCS Group Director Imawan Mashuri said in a press conference.
The application, which will be released sometime this year, will provide information on tourist attractions in Indonesia, hotels, culinary spots, plane tickets, even ATM locations. It could also serve as a travel planner.
The application will be available in Japanese, Indonesian and English. (fsu)(++++)
