his is a comment on an article titled 'Legion of foreign fighters battles for Islamic State,' (The Jakarta Post Online/AP, May 20). If Islamic State (IS) is not treated seriously by the Western world I can totally see Baghdad falling within six months to a year.
The average militant is in his mind a holy warrior. It is very difficult to explain either to them or someone in the comforts of the empire that this is a sham: An orchestrated conflict. We could argue it all goes back to when the region was drawn up by the British.
The interesting part to me anyway is this could quickly spiral out of the control of the handlers. War is terrible no matter what. No matter how you look at it. Sadly humans have been manipulated by such wars for quite some time.
