Aburizal offers Golkar reconciliation for local elections

T

he Agung Laksono faction of the Golkar Party should not be suspicious of Aburizal Bakrie'€™s offer of reconciliation as it is intended to help Golkar'€™s regional members contest upcoming simultaneous local elections, according to Aburizal'€™s Golkar faction.

'€œThe most important thing is that reconciliation is based on the two sides'€™ willingness. There shouldn'€™t be any prejudice toward the Aburizal camp'€™s offer of reconciliation,'€ said Tantowi Yahya, deputy chairman of the Aburizal faction, on Monday.

He said the two conflicting sides should have a common understanding and interest in the party'€™s future.

He said the Agung camp should not insist on using a ministerial decree concerning the government'€™s recognition of Agung'€™s camp to register candidates for the elections, as Vice President Jusuf Kalla was still leading reconciliation efforts to bring the party together.

'€œThe urgent thing is that both sides have to agree to reconcile to nominate better party members to contest local elections,'€ he said as quoted by kompas.com. (rms)(+++)
