he Agung Laksono faction of the Golkar Party should not be suspicious of Aburizal Bakrie's offer of reconciliation as it is intended to help Golkar's regional members contest upcoming simultaneous local elections, according to Aburizal's Golkar faction.
'The most important thing is that reconciliation is based on the two sides' willingness. There shouldn't be any prejudice toward the Aburizal camp's offer of reconciliation,' said Tantowi Yahya, deputy chairman of the Aburizal faction, on Monday.
He said the two conflicting sides should have a common understanding and interest in the party's future.
He said the Agung camp should not insist on using a ministerial decree concerning the government's recognition of Agung's camp to register candidates for the elections, as Vice President Jusuf Kalla was still leading reconciliation efforts to bring the party together.
'The urgent thing is that both sides have to agree to reconcile to nominate better party members to contest local elections,' he said as quoted by kompas.com. (rms)(+++)
